Awen’ Waterplay is a unique children’s splash park located in Collingwood’s Harbourview Park. Designed by Envision-Tatham Inc. and guided by Elder Dr. Duke Redbird, the waterplay incorporates various Indigenous understandings of the water cycle.

Tatham provided a variety of services for the project, including electrical, mechanical, municipal, structural, water & wastewater engineering, and geomatic survey. With the project site located over a historic landfill, extensive geotechnical investigation and operations were performed to ensure suitable ground conditions.

The waterplay slab is a structural suspended slab supported on helical piles, with a custom water treatment and recirculation system that delivers an impressive 150,000 to 250,000 gallons per day when in operation.

For a more enjoyable visitor experience, Tatham also supported the expansion of a nearby parking lot and the addition of new accessible washroom and changeroom facilities, showers, bottle fill stations, and seating.
