Atherley Needs and Justification Study

RAMARA, ON

The community of Atherley is one of the primary settlement areas within the Township of Ramara and is bisected east-west by Highway 12. Tatham was retained by the Township to complete a Transportation Needs & Justification Study for the Atherley area in order to help inform and guide future development and improve safety at several key intersections.

The study area consisted of an approximately 3.5 km segment of Highway 12 between Creighton Street and Plum Point Road, extending north and south to cover most of the area between Lake Simcoe and Concession Road 12. Within this area, the Township intends to close five of ten existing intersections on Highway 12, realign two, and establish four new road corridors to maintain network connectivity and support future development areas.

Concept drawings and preliminary cost estimates were developed for each of the proposed closures, realignments, and new corridors.
