Tatham was retained by the County of Simcoe & InnServices to provide detail design and construction services for a critical infrastructure project along County Road 21, stretching between 20th Sideroad and Yonge Street in the Town of Innisfil. This section of road had experienced a significant increase in traffic due to rapid urban growth, making the need for road expansion and infrastructure upgrades essential.
The first phase of the project included the widening of County Road 21 into a four-lane major arterial road. The expansion is part of the County’s long-term vision that will eventually extend the four-lane road all the way to Country Road 27 in Thornton.
This phase also involved the installation of upgraded infrastructure, including a new storm sewer, deep gravity sanitary sewer, and watermain. A multi-use trail alongside the road was added to provide a safe and accessible route for pedestrians and cyclists.
The improved road will accommodate growing traffic demands and enhance mobility and safety for residents and commuters. The expanded road and upgraded infrastructure are vital to meeting the increasing demand for services driven by Innisfil’s rapid urban growth.
