Tatham completed Phases 3 and 4 of the Class EA process for proposed transportation improvements on County Road 27. The assessment addressed the widening of a 10 km stretch of County Road 27, from County Road 21/Innisfil Beach Road to County Road 90, expanding it from two lanes to four. The study also examined improvements at the intersections of County Road 27 with Essa Road and Ardagh Road, where roundabouts were ultimately recommended as part of the preferred solution.
The proposed lane widening will require significant improvements to the drainage and stormwater features to avoid impact on an existing watercourse and the Bear Creek Wetlands. Several localized improvements over and above the proposed widening (i.e. exclusive turn lanes) were also recommended at various existing and future road connections through the Salem Secondary Plan Area of the City of Barrie.
Tatham Engineering is currently completing the detail design component of the project.
