Tatham Engineering completed a stormwater management (SWM) pond design in support of the Mountaincroft residential subdivision. The 29 ha site was developed from vacant agricultural land into 371 single family residential lots complete with approximately 3,200 m of urban road. To maintain existing drainage conditions at the site outlet (Oak Street Drain) a SWM pond was designed to provide the necessary water quantity and quality controls for both the development and an 80 ha upstream catchment area.

The SWM pond provides post development peak flow attenuation at levels equal to or below pre-development conditions. Ample permanent pool and extended detention storage is provided to achieve the required Level 1 ‘Enhanced’ treatment. The design includes a low flow control orifice, sufficient active storage, a sediment forebay, an overflow spillway, maintenance access and aesthetic landscaping. The pond complies with MOE, Nottawasaga Conservation Authority and Town standards, and was constructed in 2008.
