Tatham Engineering was retained to complete the design and prepare construction drawings and tender documents for the removal and replacement of existing storm and sanitary sewer as well as an existing pedestrian stairway through an 85 metre unopened section of Rodney Street between Collingwood Street and White Pine Place.

The design and construction for this project was challenging due to the existing site constraints including steep slopes, retaining walls, mature trees as well as underground and overhead utilities all within a 20 metre wide road allowance. These constraints resulted in a design with finished slopes greater than 20%, extensive erosion control and slope revetment as well as significant drainage improvements.
