Tatham Engineering was first retained by Barrie Housing in 2017 to complete a structural assessment of a bi-level parking structure at the Summitview apartment complex. The assessment identified concrete and steel deterioration due to moisture and chloride exposure. Capital budgets were established for required repairs and Tatham was retained in 2019 to update the assessment and design the work, including concrete repairs of both the slab and the supporting precast double-tee beams, drainage improvements, coating of the most deteriorated areas of the structure to protect against future chloride damage, and repairs and recoating of the vehicle and pedestrian guards.
