Tatham’s Transportation team was retained to complete the Orillia West Transportation Study, which identified the need to realign and signalize the intersection of Swinimer Drive and University Avenue, due to increased traffic from the expansion of the Lakehead University campus – another Tatham project. Following the study, the City of Orillia retained Tatham to complete the detailed design.

This project involved the realignment of the Lakehead University access point on the west side of the intersection, introducing left-turn lanes, signalization, and lighting. Close collaboration with Lakehead University was key, particularly for to the relocation of their concrete entrance signs, which required specialized contractors and equipment for safe relocation.
