The Town of Innisfil is expanding their Town Campus with the construction of the Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre. To meet the increased fire protection and sewage pumping requirements and to address operational issues with the water distribution system, Tatham Engineering assisted the Town and InnServices by designing, tendering and providing construction services for the following: a 50,000 litre cistern with a dry hydrant was installed near the water boosting pumping station to increase the volume of water available for firefighting; inside the pumphouse, an electromagnetic flowmeter and larger diameter piping was installed to reduce head losses during high flow conditions; an air release chamber was installed at the high point of the distribution system to reduce surge and transient pressures, which were impacting pump operations; several sewage forcemain air release valves were replaced along the forcemain; and the sewage pumps were upgraded with new higher capacity impellers.
