Braestone is a master-planned country estate community set on a 566-acre site near Horseshoe Valley. This visionary development was created to embrace the simple charm of Oro-Medonte’s rural landscape while offering modern living.
Tatham provided comprehensive engineering services to develop this rural subdivision, encompassing all aspects from preliminary design and tendering through to construction inspection and environmental compliance. Our scope included designing and constructing the dedicated drinking water supply and treatment system, roads and stormwater management infrastructure. We also assisted in the planning and construction of the adjacent Discovery Centre, which incorporates a pond and trails.
A key challenge was managing over 260,000 m³ of mass earthworks (the equivalent of material needed to fill four NFL football stadiums) to integrate the lots with the rolling natural topography and achieve unique views.
Braestone received two national awards from the Canadian Home Builders Association. The project was recognized for The Best Low-rise Sales Centre and received the Community Development Award, which celebrates Braestone as the best new development in Canada for its vision, creativity, and sustainability.
