Moose Cree Elders’ Residence

COCHRANE DISTRICT, ON

The Moose Cree Elders’ Residence was completed in 2017. The building consists of a combination of one- and two-bedroom residential units along with assisted-living units and facilities.

Due to the remote location and extreme cold temperatures, a reliable and efficient in-floor heating system was required to provide cold weather comfort.

Split system ductless cooling units provide relief from the heat during the summer. Energy saving heat recovery ventilators provide fresh air to common spaces.

The rehab-physiotherapy room was equipped with a system to accommodate smudging ceremonies without disturbing other building occupants. Additionally, accommodations were put in place for a commercial kitchen, a make-up air unit, and an NFPA compliant exhaust duct.
