West Street Extension

COLDWATER, ON

A deteriorating bridge once provided the only vehicle access to homes along West Street in the Village of Coldwater. By extending the urban road approximately 200 metres, this project established a new, safe route behind the residential properties, allowing the existing bridge to be repurposed as a pedestrian-only connection.

Engineering this extension required specialized solutions to navigate the marshy terrain near the Coldwater River. Our teams implemented advanced sub-excavation techniques and groundwater control systems to stabilize the road base, ensuring long-term structural integrity. These measures, combined with the installation of geogrid and high-grade granular materials, provided a robust foundation for the community’s new permanent infrastructure.

In consultation with residents, new driveways were constructed from the rear of each property, requiring the removal of original driveways and the restoration of vegetation. Careful coordination between the Township of Severn and local homeowners resulted in improved outdoor living spaces and enhanced privacy.
