Yonge Go Village Stormwater Management Pond

BARRIE, ON

Tatham Engineering completed the detailed design of the Yonge – GO Village stormwater (SWM) pond, located in the City of Barrie. The SWM pond is designed to provide water quality and quantity control for the Yonge – GO Village subdivision, which at full build out will convey a total drainage area of approximately 30 hectares to the pond.

The facility consists of a forebay, wet cell and dry storage cell. The inlet to the pond consists of an existing 1350 mm diameter concrete culvert, which is located under the Metrolinx railway. In order to facilitate the location of the pond, the existing concrete culvert was extended and a new headwall was installed to serve as the ultimate inlet to the pond.

The pond construction has resulted in an aesthetically pleasing and functional site, which also meets all provincial and local SWM requirements.
