Tatham Engineering was awarded two prestigious honours at the 2026 Ontario Engineering Project Awards (OEPA), recognizing both the impact of its technical work and its ongoing commitment to community.
Recognized for Municipal Impact in Muskoka
Tatham received the Municipal Impact Award for its leadership on the Muskoka Area Municipalities: A Regional Approach to Decarbonizing Municipal Operations project.
This groundbreaking initiative brought together six municipalities — the Towns of Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, and Huntsville, along with the Townships of Lake of Bays, Muskoka Lakes, and Georgian Bay — to develop a coordinated strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions across municipal operations. As a result of the project, all six municipal councils have committed to reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, demonstrating a unified approach to climate leadership across the Muskoka region.
The initiative also provides a clear roadmap for implementation, with projected long-term benefits including operational cost savings, improved access to funding, and increased local capacity to advance climate action.
“This project demonstrates how regional collaboration — supported by engineering analysis, lifecycle planning, and financial modelling — can translate ambitious climate goals into practical, measurable outcomes,” said Elham Gorouhi, MSc, P.Eng., Manager – Decarbonization & Net Zero at Tatham Engineering.
Inaugural Humanitarian Award Recognizes Corporate Giving Program
In addition to project recognition, Tatham Engineering was honoured with the inaugural Humanitarian Award, a new category introduced in 2026 to celebrate organizations making a meaningful difference in their communities.
The award recognizes Tatham’s long-standing commitment to giving back through:
- Employee-led volunteer initiatives
- Fundraising teams supporting healthcare and local causes
- A formalized Corporate Giving Program that amplifies community impact across Ontario
This recognition highlights the firm’s belief that engineering extends beyond infrastructure — contributing to stronger, healthier communities where employees live and work.
Industry Recognition at the 2026 OEPA Gala
Held at Carmen’s Event Centre in Hamilton, the 2026 OEPA gala brought together more than 300 leaders from government, municipalities, and the consulting engineering sector to celebrate excellence and innovation across Ontario.
This year’s program introduced new award categories — including the Municipal Impact and Humanitarian Awards — reflecting the evolving role of engineering in delivering measurable community benefit and social impact.
