Charles Carlyle Tatham (Charlie) graduated in Civil Engineering from Carleton University in 1965 and spent the next three years with the Government of Ontario, first with the Department of Highways and then with the Ontario Water Resources Commission, as a design approvals engineer.
Charlie moved with his family to Collingwood in May 1970 to join Ainley & Associates Ltd. as an Environmental Engineer and resigned in October 1988 as Vice President, to found C.C. Tatham & Associates Ltd. CCTA began operations in January 1989 and by 2016 the company had almost 100 employees with offices in Collingwood, Bracebridge, Orillia, Barrie and Ottawa.
In his professional career Charlie became a Professional Engineer in 1967 and was designated as a Consulting Engineer in 1974. He was among the first professional engineers in Ontario to receive the Environmental Specialist designation and was elected a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering in June 2000, in recognition of his excellence in engineering and for services rendered to his profession and to Canada.
Beyond his professional activities, Charlie has contributed his enthusiasm and expertise to numerous community endeavours, serving on and chairing several boards, including the Collingwood Yacht Club, the Georgian Bay Yacht Racing Union, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Board, the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation Board, the Georgian Triangle Development Institute and the Collingwood Regional Airport Services Board.
Charlie retired from CCTA in August 2012 at the age of 70 and continues his pursuits with family life, aviation, fishing, hunting and boating.
